What's New

The MAL has launched a study entitled “EMG modules as a novel biomarker of basal ganglia plasticity in Parkinson’s disease”. The study funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation aims to identify specific characteristics of muscle activity that could be linked to changes within the brain that are associated with Parkinson’s disease.

Bor-rong Chen

Dr. Chen is working with the MAL on the development of a cloud based system for remote health monitoring using wearable and ambient sensor networks. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University in 2009. He did research as a PhD student at Harvard Sensor Networks Laboratory, and as a postdoctoral fellow at Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and Self-organizing Systems Research Group. Dr. Chen’s research areas span across wireless networks and cyber-physical systems. Specifically, he has worked on active soft orthotics, wearable sensor systems for motion analysis, wireless sensor networks for emergency medical triaging, and self-organized routing for resource constrained wireless sensor networks.
