The MAL has launched a study entitled “EMG modules as a novel biomarker of basal ganglia plasticity in Parkinson’s disease”. The study funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation aims to identify specific characteristics of muscle activity that could be linked to changes within the brain that are associated with Parkinson’s disease.

Jean-François Daneault

Jean-François Daneault obtained his BSc and MSc in Kinesiology at the Université du Québec à Montréal where is research focused on motor control in healthy individuals. He completed a PhD in Neuroscience in the department of Neurology & Neurosurgery of the Montreal Neurological Hospital and Institute of McGill University where he examined the impact of subthalamic deep brain stimulation on motor performance in patients with Parkinson’s disease. He recently received a postdoctoral research fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to pursue research on motor control and biomechanics in early Parkinson’s disease in the Motion Analysis Laboratory.
