The MAL has launched a study entitled “EMG modules as a novel biomarker of basal ganglia plasticity in Parkinson’s disease”. The study funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation aims to identify specific characteristics of muscle activity that could be linked to changes within the brain that are associated with Parkinson’s disease.

Matilde Bertoli

Matilde Bertoli received her B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy (2012). Since May 2014, she has been a Research Assistant in the Motion Analysis Laboratory at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston MA.  She is helping with different projects and working on her thesis for her Master Degree.  Her projects mostly involve the use of wearable sensors for rehabilitation, and data analysis.
