The MAL has launched a study entitled “EMG modules as a novel biomarker of basal ganglia plasticity in Parkinson’s disease”. The study funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation aims to identify specific characteristics of muscle activity that could be linked to changes within the brain that are associated with Parkinson’s disease.

Shyamal Patel

Shyamal is a research associate in our laboratory. He oversees our projects in the area of  Wearable Technology. He received his  Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, Boston MA, in 2013 and his M.S. in electrical engineering from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, in 2005.  His main research interest is in the application of wearable technology for health monitoring by using advanced signal processing and pattern recognition techniques.
